Happy Feet

Poor Happy Feet, the emperor penguin from Antarctica, will have an operation in Wellington this morning, to remove sand from her digestive tract. Little Happy, who has been hassled by thoughtless humans all week, was probably eating sand from the beach in an attempt to cool down, as the emperor penguins do this with ice back home.

    Everyone seems to think Happy Feet is a male penguin, although the DNA (sex) test has not yet been performed. But from my limited knowledge of emperor penguins, and given the season, I think it is far more likely to be a female, since the menz are busy minding the eggs, no?
