For those somewhere near Europe, FFP11 takes place in Paris in early July. It looks like a number of people from FFP10 will be there. Maybe Carl will even make it!
Meanwhile on the job front: I have now been ignored by more physics departments than I can possibly count. That is, they won't even consider hosting me for a grant application. The science funding situation down under seems to be improving slowly, but I guess my generation just missed that boat. Oh, well. Maybe in my next life I will be reborn as a respected human being, like maybe a tit flashing rock star or Osama Bin Laden.
Sorry to hear you won't make it, Carl. Thanks, Ulla. As it happens, I may just have found a little help on the grant application front. It's not much to get excited about, but it's a start.
FFP is really tempting. I had a wonderful time at a Paris conference last July.
The fame of Bin Laden (probably dead) is like that of rock stars, fleeting. His ghost makes good press in the short run. Einstein lived during the heyday of the anarchist movement, who commited many assasinations and bombings. Today few recall the anarchists but everyone remembers Einstein.

ReplyDeleteI'm worried about money at the moment and am not considering going to FFP11.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not as a woman or a dog :)
ReplyDeleteWill should reach far but only if you are a man. A woman is just pathetic. How is it like that?
Funny that a carrieer as a criminal is better.
