The Usual

As expected, the motives paper was summarily rejected by the one referee who looked at it, with some brief comments about my suspicious use of (now) trendy terms. Why this took over six months is beyond me. I also receive about one automated postdoc rejection each day at this time of year (not everyone bothers sending out rejections). I know they are automated, because they usually include a phrase like you and other excellent candidates or we considered your application carefully.

  1. I can imagine the brief comments concisely summarized as "you lost me at braided pro." ;)

  2. Oh no, kneemo. Not at all. That actually sounds respectful. It was more along the lines of, "the strange term quantum Fourier is just Hadamard, as far as I can tell, and it's just a jumble of random stuff".

  3. Interesting webs are spun over many different branches. And often times such branches are but mere extremities of a single tree.

  4. Good luck once again. I submitted recommendation letters for all your previous applications and hope for the best for you.

  5. Thanks again, Louise, but it's pretty obvious that we are wasting our time. Online job sites make applications simple, but how many more thousands do I submit before concluding that the 'Women and Minorities' clause is meaningless?
