Conferences Coming

Amongst the many interesting, upcoming conferences that I am unable to attend is Cosgrav 12: International Conference on Modern Perspectives of Cosmology and Gravitation. Oh, look. The invited speakers all seem to be men, yet again. Perhaps I won't be missing much.

Further away, there is Moriond in March, and a workshop on Scattering Amplitudes at Cambridge in April. Anastasia Volovich is of course the token woman there, and participation is by invitation only. Meanwhile, the icHEP12 website has a cute disclaimer:
In particular, no bona fide scientist will be excluded from participation on the grounds of national origin, nationality, or political considerations unrelated to science.
Yes, we need that qualification there, don't we?

  1. Ah, yes. Just received the rejection from the University of Texas. That probably explains why some stringer grad students were looking over my blog.

  2. Remember that paper we were working on about mixing matrices? It just reached "under review" status. The paper cites three of your recent papers, if there's something I should change when I have to make the inevitable changes, do tell. Current version is here: http://brannenworks.com/Gravity/jmapumm.pdf

Last night I figured out how to solve the Lie algebra / Lie group parameterization the opposite way. That is, how to write down all the parameters that happen to give a particular magic unitary matrix. From this I can easily look for simpler versions of the CKM matrix. In doing this I ended up looking at the parameterizations in new ways.

  3. Oh, so the men talk to you, do they? Well, now that you've learned a bit about MUBs and Floer homology you can get others interested.
