$\bullet$ As ZZZ says on Woit's blog, the much cited anti-OPERA Cohen and Glashow paper
suggests that neutrinos can slow down to $c$ via pair production. Therefore their average velocity from the supernova to Earth can remain very close to $c$, even if their initial velocity was higher.
One may well imagine what Mottle thought of McElrath's paper back in 2008. One would be right.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I suppose, sigh, that I need to stress yet again that this whole Cohen Glashow discourse is simply Entertainment.
